Keep The Umbrella Close By

After the extreme mid-summer like heat earlier this week, the Philadelphia area is heading into a much cooler and more unsettled stretch of weather that will carry right through Memorial Day. Today will be damp with rain at times. It will also be significantly cooler with temperatures stuck in the 60s – more than 30 degrees cooler than the records that were set earlier in the week. Friday looks slightly better with mainly dry conditions in the city much of the day, but showers are likely to the south across south Jersey and Delaware. Temperatures will once again be on the cooler side with highs in the low 60s.

Unfortunately, the holiday weekend itself is trending damp and unusually chilly for late May. Saturday appears to be the roughest day with steady rain, breezy conditions, and temperatures struggling to get out of the 50s. If you’re looking for play time outside, Saturday is not the day. Sunday improves a bit, but there could still be scattered showers and drizzle out there during the morning with highs in the upper 60s. Memorial Day looks mainly dry at this point with only a spotty shower or two. This will be your best opportunity to get outside. Temperatures recover into the 70s.

The brighter and warmer weather should finally return by the middle of next week with temperatures climbing back into the upper 70s and lower 80s.
