Memorial Day Weekend – Not A Beach Weekend

Memorial Day Weekend is always iffy to begin with at the Jersey shore, but this year it looks rough for beach goers. With a front close by and several disturbances swinging through, sunshine is going to be very difficult to come by. Saturday looks absolutely miserable with on and off periods of rain and drizzle. Is there a time of day that even looks remotely decent to get outside? Not really. Maybe late morning for a couple hours, but even then, it’s still damp, chilly and raw.

An easterly wind will be whipping pretty good at times too, especially Saturday. Some of the gusts could reach 30-40 mph. The wind should ease Sunday late morning. For the boaters expect rough seas. Small Craft Advisories have already been issued by that National Weather Service for 4-7 foot seas. Sunday looks pretty rough too (4-7 foot). Memorial Day is not great, but it is better with seas of 2-4 feet.

Sunday still looks damp during the morning with leftover light rain and drizzle through 10am (give or take an hour or two). Clouds will hang tough all day, but at least we turn off the faucets during the afternoon. It remains rather cool with temperatures in the 60s (hoodie weather).

As of this writing, Memorial Day is going to be your best shot to get outdoors. There may still be a few showers out there from time to time, but there will also be a lot of dry time. Expect mostly cloudy skies so the beach is out. It may end up being a decent day though if you want to get a slice of pizza on the boardwalk or hit the arcades.
