Paigee and I were listening to Love Train by the O’Jays driving home from the mall the other day. This is what happened this morning. 🥰
Dungeon time! Not as chilly this morning with cooler temperatures. A nice warmup is on the way beginning Thursday. Halloween forecast and finally some rain heading this way.
A weak cold front pushed through while you were sleeping. As a result, temperatures will be slightly cooler today with most areas topping out in the mid-60s (just a few degrees above the seasonal average).
We’ll see some clouds mix in tomorrow and over the weekend, but all in all, the near-perfect weather continues through Sunday with the next chance of showers Sunday Night into Monday.

It’s been a pretty mild month across the country. There’s a good chance November will be above average too when all is said and done, although there are some signs of cold shots too.
The Sowers house hold is fired up and ready for tonight! I don’t care if the Eagles have 1,273 players on the injury report, we’re gonna win! Go birds!

I know it’s been unusually dry for a while now, but we’re still in good shape as far as any drought is concerned. It would be nice to get some rain around here soon though.

Dungeon time! Midday update. Turning more unsettled next week, get ready. From now until then though... GORGEOUS!
A picture perfect day! Hardly a cloud in the sky with temperatures in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees.
The latest European update keeps it bone dry around here through November 4th (at least another ten days). After that though it looks like the pattern will finally become more active again as the southern branch of the jet stream begins to get involved again. This has been one unbelievable stretch of weather for us! Gorgeous!
Dungeon time! Another cold, frosty morning out there. Halloween and the long range is finally showing some activity. Quite a bit actually.
Another cold, frosty morning out there. So far I’m down to 36.1 degrees. What do you have in your neighborhood?
Dungeon time! What an amazing week ahead! Some models as warm as 77 degrees by Friday. Mild for the trick or treaters.
Another FLAWLESS five day forecast. What an incredible stretch of weather this has been! Temperatures will be in the 60s by the time the trick or treaters get out there and do their thing. 👻🎃
Look what the models are projecting for Friday now. Wow!
4:52 PM ET 10/25/26: Temperatures as low as 35 degrees will result in areas of frost formation. This Frost Advisory has been extended for Eastern Chester, Eastern Montgomery, and Lower Bucks Counties from 1 AM to 9 AM EDT Monday. Frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation, and plants may be killed if left uncovered.

SOME WINTER THOUGHTS - INTERESTING DEVELOPMENTS
The GEFS (GFS Ensemble) is in the same ball park as the ECMWF Ensemble and shows a decent amount of snow across the country through the end of November. But it’s also showing a very telling story about the overall weather pattern. You can clearly see the ensemble data going straight to the typical strong El Niño look. A look that usually brings above average temperatures and rain or slop to the east coast.
A couple of thoughts - The longer it takes for sustained cold to drop south into the Mid-Atlantic, the longer it’s going to take to cool down the oceans which in turn makes it very difficult to get snow on the coastal plain and the major cities of the I-95 corridor. Now these areas typically don’t get good snows until after the holidays anyway, but if we slow this process down even more than normal it might not be until really late in the season before we even have a shot.
That takes me into my next thought. Yes I know all about the polar vortex disruption. And yes that may bring us a decent cold shot at some point about a month from now. But there’s no guarantee. I’ve seen polar vortex disruptions before bring us cold weather for two days, that’s it. So we’ll see.
What I know for certain is this is a strong El Niño, westerly QBO winter. Both are strong negatives against sustained cold and snow in the Philadelphia area. So we have two solid strikes against us. So if we can get a decent cold shot at some point in November, thanks to this polar vortex disruption, consider us lucky.
I will release my winter predictions during the first week of November.
2:19 PM ET 10/25/26: A Frost Advisory has been issued for Delaware, Kent, New Castle, and Inland Sussex Counties; Caroline, Kent MD, and Queen Annes Counties in Maryland; and Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem Counties in New Jersey from 1 AM to 9 AM EDT Monday. Temperatures near 35°F may form frost. Cover sensitive plants to prevent damage.
2:14 PM ET 10/25/26: A Frost Advisory has been issued for portions of central and northern Maryland and central and northern Virginia from 1 AM to 9 AM EDT Monday. Temperatures near 33 will allow frost to form, especially in valleys and low-lying areas. Cover sensitive plants to prevent damage.
Throwback Sunday 🤔, Flashback Sunday 🤔, does anything go with Sunday? lol.
This came up on my memories today, a time when Mr. Murphy would run 10 miles with us and wouldn’t stop until we stopped. There were times where I had to save him from himself. Such a good furry boy! 🐶🥰
The 6-10 day is more of the same … mild and dry! How much longer can this winning streak possibly go on? I will say this though… after the summer we just had we deserve it!
Beautiful Halloween Forecast! - lots of sunshine with temperatures topping out between 69-72 degrees. The temperatures will cool down into the mid 60s by the time the trick or treaters get out there. Is this too warm for you on Halloween? Or just right?
Its cold out there this morning, frosty! We do warm up later this week though. Halloween outlook and will it ever rain again. lol
