We May Challenge the All-Time Record High Next Week!

Weather Summary

The heat next week looks worse and worse with each and every passing computer update. The core is going to be centered around a three-day period from Wednesday, July 1st through Friday, July 3rd. It’s possible all three of these days are over 100 degrees in the city. Wednesday is just one degree shy of the all-time record high of 106 set back in 1918! There are signs that the pattern will break down a little bit as we head into 4th of July weekend. But it’s still going to be hot with temperatures likely in the low 90s.

Now is the time to prep!

  • Please make sure your fans and air conditioners are working properly. Replace HVAC filters if needed. Identify nearby cooler center, libraries, malls or other air-conditioned locations in case of power outages.
  • Stay ahead of hydration! Start drinking extra water now actually, especially if you work outdoors. Don’t wait until you’re thirsty. Limit excess alcohol and caffeine during the hottest days.
  • Protect your pets. Ensure they have constant access to fresh water and shade. Walk dogs early in the morning or after sunset. Never leave pets in a parked vehicle.
