Wednesday will be one of the hottest and most uncomfortable days of the entire summer across the Delaware and Lehigh Valley’s. Temperatures will skyrocket into the upper 90s, low 100s. When you factor in the oppressive humidity, heat index numbers will range from 105-110 up and down the I-95 corridor. Even the Jersey Shore will bake. There is simply no relief, no escape.
The combination of intense sunshine, high humidity, and light winds away from the coast will make it difficult for your body to cool itself down, increasing the risk of heat related illness.
If you have to be outdoors, drink plenty of water throughout the day, take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning, and avoid strenuous activities during the hottest part of the afternoon. Never leave children or pets alone in a vehicle, even for a few minutes. Make sure your pets have plenty of fresh water and a cool place to rest.
Remember: Heat is one of the deadliest weather hazards, so take this dangerous heat seriously.
