There’s light at the end of the tunnel, but we still have a couple more rounds of thunderstorms to get through first. The next round will slide in overnight followed by one last round Friday afternoon.
Remember the overall pattern is a classic “Ring of Fire” set up. So, we’re on “Mother Natures” clock and that means storms develop when pieces of energy run around the ridge. They move in a clockwise fashion.
TONIGHT
The next round, as of this writing (4:30pm Thu) was blasting eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. The latest CAMs data doesn’t bring it into the Philadelphia area until after 9pm.
Some of these storms could be big wind producers again. The SPC upgraded the area to a level 2 after previously downgrading us to a level 1. Hail and an isolated tornado can’t be completely ruled out but it’s a very low risk for both. Watch for a bit of flash flooding too.
FRIDAY
Friday will be the last of this stuff. One last piece of energy comes rounding the bend before the entire pattern breaks down. The SPC again has upgraded the severe weather risk. Especially southern areas around the Delaware Bay. The main concern is strong straight-line winds. Timing: 4pm to 11pm.
