The Storm Prediction Center is carefully reviewing everything trying to determine whether or not they’re going to issue a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the Philadelphia television market. Heavy thunderstorms have already developed west of State College and will continue to march east over the next several hours. They will be quick hitters that may drop a lot of rain in a short period of time and produce wind gusts between 55 and 70 mph. Areas of hail are possible as well.
Uncertainty remains as to how much convection we’ll see develop, but trends will continue to be monitored very closely through the evening commute.
Timing: If these thunderstorms continue to fire up, they will likely march in after the evening commute or towards the tail end from west to east across the area.
